A Tea Bag Is Born at the Cutting Step

Not every tea leaf belongs in the cup whole. For tea bags, leaves are cut into small, even pieces — fine enough to brew fast through the bag, coarse enough to stay inside it and keep the liquor clear.

This is the job of a coarse crusher. Unlike a fine grinder, it doesn't turn the leaf into powder — it cuts it into particles of a controlled size. The cut is set by the screen: change the screen, change the grade.
