Double Ninth Festival: Climb High, Partner Long

Today is the Double Ninth Festival. Its date — "double nine" — sounds exactly like the Chinese word for forever, making it one of the luckiest phrases in the culture.

People climb hills, admire chrysanthemums, sip chrysanthemum wine, and make time for their elders — which is why it's also called Senior's Day.

For those of us in foreign trade, forever carries a small extra wish: may every partnership bloom as long as the autumn chrysanthemums.
